  3. promoting adoption of homeless animals;

Our First Year
from the President

North Platte Animal shelter has Dogs, Puppies, Cats and Kittens for adoption What started as a group of four people has grown to a member roster of over 30 and we accomplished a lot in 1998.
North Platte Animal shelter has Dogs, Puppies, Cats and Kittens for adoption In overview, we started our year with a Fundraising day in Feb., we funded and organized a spay/neuter event in March, participated in the Kids Fun Festival in June, sponsored the Naked Kaper 5000 in August, participated in Make A Difference Day in October, decorated a tree for the Festival of Trees in November and participated in Holiday craft shows to raise funds. And that's not all!
North Platte Animal shelter has Dogs, Puppies, Cats and Kittens for adoption In between those times, we networked with the NP Animal Shelter and held several pet adoptions, which resulted in over 50 animals finding homes. We networked with local media to get the shelter animals advertised, we took animals to visit residents at nursing homes and we organized and funded several spay/neuter financial assistance programs.
North Platte Animal shelter has Dogs, Puppies, Cats and Kittens for adoption We are very proud of the fact that, with the spay/neuter programs we have funded this past year, over 150 animals have been altered. A phenomenal start!
North Platte Animal shelter has Dogs, Puppies, Cats and Kittens for adoption It's been hard work, but well worth it. Cindy Wonch, from the NP animal shelter, reports that adoptions are up and euthanizations are down.
North Platte Animal shelter has Dogs, Puppies, Cats and Kittens for adoption We have been progressing in organizational matters as well. We have incorporated and obtained tax exempt status so that we may apply for grants to help us implement more programs to aid animals and animal owners in this community and surrounding areas.
North Platte Animal shelter has Dogs, Puppies, Cats and Kittens for adoption Sadly, we have said good-bye to Sheila Kelley, former PPHS President, but wish her well in Minnesota.
North Platte Animal shelter has Dogs, Puppies, Cats and Kittens for adoption We're gearing up for another busy and productive year. Thank you to everyone for your support in making our first year a success!
